T-Mobile Sidekick 4G: Great Keyboard, Funky UI

2011年03月25日(金)

laptopbatterymag.com:Those who rocked older Sidekicks a few years back should definitely find vgp-bps10/s battery that the new version carries the torch well. Now built by Samsung, the latest incarnation boasts access to T-Mobile’s 4G data network plus all the powerful apps that Android 2.2 offers. Running a 1GHz Coretex A8 Hummingbird CPU, the phone felt responsive to us. The Sidekick 4G features an excellent keyboard
with solid, clicky feel; a sturdy spring-loaded hinge, vgp-bps13b/q battery and a revamped UI.

Muvee Unveils HD Video Editing Tool for Android

A company with a long history in mobile video since the days vgp-bps10/b battery of the first Nokia N90 for Symbian, Muvee has a new solution up its sleeve. According to Muvee, this new technology will allow for fast video edits right on Android smart phones.

Based on CODEN (Compressed Domain Editing Engine), a platform which Muvee had previously announced, these new tools will allow for quick editing of HD video on mobile Android devices, without the need for the robust CPU horsepower resident on more powerful laptop vgp-bps13a/q battery and desktop computers.

We met with Terence Swee, Founder and CEO of Movee to find out how it works. According the Mr. Swee, today’s smart phones have become both extremely powerful video capture and computing devices , or as he jokingly put vgp-bps10a/b battery “Camputers”. The problem, says Twee, is that the image capture prowess of phones has not kept up with their CPU might.

Muvee circumvents his issue by editing vgp-bps13/q battery and altering only the software
container of video, and not working with the raw and copious amount of data within. The result is nimble editing which we observed first hand. Sadly, this Muvee platform is being pitched to wireless carriers, toshiba pa3535u-1brs battery and not directly to consumers via an app in the Android Market. This video lays out the basic operation.

That said, Muvee also demoed an interesting Android app that the company is working on, called the Social Picture Frame. It, as it’s name implies, will pull images from various social networking sites such as Twitter Toshiba PA3534U-1BRS Battery and Facebook. It will also integrate heavily with these services. Take a look at our video for a better view.

T-Mobile’s 42 Mbps Rocket 3.0 Faster Than LTE

T-Mobile is doubling down at CTIA on 4G, literally. The carrier has announced that it has lit up Orlando, Las Vegas, vgp-bps21/s battery and New York with a network upgrade that can deliver theoretical download speeds of 42 Mbps. Since we’re in Orlando, we swung by T-Mobile’s both to see just how fast T-Mobile is getting.

Using the new T-Mobile Rocket 3.0 data stick, vgp-bps21a/b battery made by ZTE, we saw a blazing download rate of 25 Mbps. That’s on a par or faster that the best speeds we’ve seen from Verizon’s LTE data sticks. Upload speeds weren’t as impressive, registering 2.7 Mbps, compared to 5 to 12 Mbps for LTE. Still, if these speeds hold true, T-Mobile’s network
will definitely lap Sprint’s Mobile WiMax, which peaks at 10 Mbps.

T-Mobile says that it will continue to expand its 42 Mbps upgrades to Chicago, Long Island, N.Y, vgp-bps21b battery and North New Jersey, and that 140 million Americans in 25 cities will see increased 4G speeds by mid-year. No word yet on pricing for the Rocket 3.0, but it will go on sale later this spring.

Visa’s microSD NFC Tech is coming

2011年03月25日(金)

batterymag.co.uk:There’s lots of buzz these days about mobile payment systems, which is the ability to use your smart phone as a virtual wallet. It may seem a far-off prospect but banking services giant Visa believes it has a compelling mobile banking solution. Here at CTIA 2011, we were able to get a quick demo of how it might work.

Sitting down with Dave Wentker, Head of Mobile Product Development for Visa, we learned that the company’s application relies on Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. Interestingly, Visa’s approach is to build NFC circuitry onto microSD memory cards. These would then slip into most smart phones, essentially giving them an NFC upgrade. It’s important to note that this solution isn’t passive; it’s activated by the phone itself, thereby increasing security. That’s just what Visa plans to do, showing us both iPhone HP Pavilion DV6500 Battery and Android apps.

Weather+

Interface

When you first open Weather+, you're greeted with four sections of information: the current time, location, dell vostro 1400 battery and temperature; the five-day forecast; the hourly forecast; and the current wind, humidity, and precipitation data. Behind these semi-transparent blocks is an animated image of the current weather conditions; these vivid changing background images are what set Weather+ apart from other weather apps. For instance, overcast conditions are depicted with clouds backlit by the sun behind them. Tap on a day or time in the daily or hourly forecast and the background image changes to reflect it.

To complement these images, the app lets users choose between several different layouts that include as much or as little information as desired. Users can view the time, location, current conditions, five-day forecast, VGP-BPS13A/Q and hourly forecast on the screen or opt for just the time, location, and current temperature or any combination of the widget blocks.

Verdict

We really enjoy the vivid images that liven up Weather+, but it's a little hard to read VGP-BPS13B/Q and navigate. We prefer WeatherBug's layout, which may not have as many bells and whistles at first but is easier to use. Still, if you're more interested in beautiful weather videos than in forecast minutiae and don't mind small print, Weather+ is worth a look.

Performance

Weather+ determined our location in Chicago using the Wi-Fi connection on our iPod Touch. We were also able to add cities by clicking on the small "i" button in the bottom-right corner of the app. Although the app told us to type in the name of a city, we entered a zip code VGP-BPS13/Q and the app still returned results.

Weather+ can get confusing when you have all available data presented at once. The time, location, and current temperature are easy to read, but the five-day, hourly, VGP-BPS21A/B and wind/precipitation information all use the same small font size. To make matters worse, the layout is such that there's too much extra space above the clock widget--space that could have been used to make the interface more readable. Even with only one or two widgets on the screen, the text size didn't change.

Navigation could be better, too. Tapping on a time of day in the hourly forecast or a day of the week in the five-day forecast changes the current conditions, hourly forecast, VGP-BPS21/S and background image. However, to change back to the current day, users have to either tap on the day in the five-day forecast, or exit out of the app and go back into it. Both the WeatherBug and Weather Channel apps had menu buttons for easily navigating back to the current conditions home page. While Weather+ has much of the same basic information that the Weather Channel app has, we prefer the clean layout of the latter. Also, much like Weather Droid, Weather+ aims for a simpler, quick-glance weather experience, VGP-BPS21B and it doesn't include radar maps or videos like WeatherBug and the Weather Channel.
Free vs. Paid Version

The free version of Weather+ is ad-supported, lacks hourly forecast data, VGP-BPS13AS and only lets you choose between the full layout and a minimal one. However, it does include numerous buttons to encourage you to upgrade to the full version. There are two on the main page of the app itself--one where the hourly forecast would be located and another at the bottom by the settings button. Two more "encouragements" to upgrade appear on the Locations and Layout settings menu. The $1.99 paid version dispenses with the ads and annoying calls to update and includes hourly forecasts VGP-BPS13/S and a full set of layout options.

Motorola announces Wi-Fi Xoom release date for Canada

While the Xoom has already launched here in the States with the Wi-Fi only model coming later this month, Motorola has now announced the availability of the Wi-Fi only model for Canada. Prospective buyers can expect to get their hands on the tablet starting April 6th for around $600 CAD (=$614 US / 432 €). Electronics stores Future Shop vgp-bps13as and Best Buy are already taking pre-orders for the device online.

Unfortunately for Canada, Motorola has yet to officially release the 3G version of the Xoom for the country. Whereas the 3G model was released first before the Wi-Fi model in the U.S., it appears the order will be in reverse for Canada. The mobile network Telus is expected to be the carrier for the Xoom when the 3G tablet releases sometime mid 2011.

The Motorola Xoom is a 10.1-inch tablet with a dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, 1GB of RAM VGP-BPS13B/S and Android 3.0. The device has since been updated with Adobe Flash 10.2 and LTE support.

Dell Alienware M11x R3 details leak

Right off the heels of the recent Alienware m14x VGP-BPS10/B and m18x rumors come even more rumors about the existing Alienware m11x laptop. These new leaks suggest that a 2011 revision for the 11.6-inch laptop could be coming soon, complete with Sandy Bridge processors and even 3G or 4G broadband support.

According to PCWorld, the new m11x R3 could be sporting an overclockable Core i5-2537M, Core i7-2617M, or a Core i7-2657M Ultra Low Voltage processor. In comparison, the current m11x R2 model supports either a Core i5-520UM or Core i7-640UM, while the older R1 laptop uses a now relatively outdated Core 2 Duo processor. Other specifications, such as the RAM, will be upgraded to 1333MHz from 800MHz, but resolution VGP-BPS10A and HDD options are expected to remain the same as before at 1366x768 pixels and up to 750GB.

Beyond the Sandy Bridge processors VGP-BPS10A/B and mobile broadband support, however, there was no mention of what discrete graphics the new revision would take advantage of. Previous models all relied on the mid-range Nvidia Geforce 335M for gaming purposes VGP-BPS10/S and integrated Intel HD graphics for extended battery life. If Dell intends to market the new model for hardcore gamers on the go, we expect the graphics card to be updated to the more recent Geforce 500M series or possibly an AMD Radeon solution. The m11x series has always been known for packing one of the most powerful graphics in a sub 12-inch notebook, so hopefully Dell will continue with this tradition in the latest revision.

Dell Vostro 3000 line

2011年03月23日(水)

Keeping up the flow of Sandy Bridge additions, Dell has gone ahead dell vostro 1400 battery and upgraded another one of their product lines. After announcing updates to their mainstream Inspiron R laptops, Dell will also be tuning up the components under the lid of their business line of notebooks- the Vostro 3000 series.

According to a press release by Dell, the 13.3” Vostro 3350, the 14” Vostro 3450, the 15.6” Vostro 3550, VGP-BPS13 and the 17.3” Vostro 3750 have been outfitted with the latest Sandy Bridge processors. All the models will have access to Core i3, i5 and i7 Dual-Core processors, while the Vostro 3750 alone will be capable of running a Quad-Core i7.

As for the other specs, the whole lineup will be customizable with up to 8GB VGP-BPS13A/Q of RAM, a 128GB SSD, an optional backlit keyboard and SRS Premium Voice Pro. Seeing as the machines are running Sandy Bridge processors, they’ll have the regular Integrated Intel HD Graphics to go along with a 512MB Radeon HD6470 in the Vostro 3750, a 1GB Radeon HD6630 in the Vostro 3450 VGP-BPS13A/B and the Vostro 3550, and a 1GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M in the Vostro 3750. As first reviews of the 3550 indicate, the systems with AMD graphics card come with a automatic graphics switching similar to Nvidia Optimus. However, due to some patents by Nvidia, the BACON (PowerXPress 4.0) called technique may have some disadvantages compared to Nvidia.

With regards to power, a 4 cell battery can be found in the 13.3” model VGP-BPS13/B and a 6 cell battery will come with the other versions. However, the laptops can also be outfitted with a larger battery; an 8 cell battery in the case of the Vostro 3350 and a 9 cell battery for the others.

With the updated Vostro specs, Dell appears to be targeting business consumers with mobility VGP-BPS13B/B and production in mind. An early review of the Vostro 3550 by PC World Australia seems to back that up, as the website was impressed with the laptop’s performance and managed to get over 5 hours of runtime with the 9 cell battery. Their only qualm appears to be below average viewing angles on the LED display.

Although Dell has managed to include Sandy Bridge processors VGP-BPS13B/Q and extended battery life in their Vostro 3000 lineup, the pricing hasn’t bumped from where it previously stood. The 13.3” Vostro should start at $599, while the 14” and 15.6” models begin at $499 and the 17.3” model splits the difference with a $549 price tag. All 4 machines should be available in Aberdeen Silver, Lucerne Red, and Brizbane Bronze colors VGP-BPS13A/S and will be available on March 22nd at batterymag.co.uk.

Samsung announces Series 2, 4, and 6 business laptops

Fresh off the news of the Samsung Series 9 laptop retailing for $1649, Samsung is announcing three new laptop lines. According to a press release by the company, the Series 2, Series 4, and Series 6 laptops feature anti-shock hard drives VGP-BPS13/Q and pressure-resistant casings to meet needs of businesses.

Starting things off is the budget oriented Series 2 laptop line. Aimed at the lower end of the business spectrum, the Series 2 laptops will come in two variants- a 12.5” model and a 14” model. As far as processors go, the 12.5” model will feature an Intel Celeron processor VGP-BPS9 and the 14” model will be running an Intel Core i3 Processor. The laptops will also come with 2GB of RAM (expandable to 4GB), up to 320GB of storage, integrated Intel GMA HD graphics and a 1366x768 pixel resolution on both screens.

Next in line, the Series 4 takes things up a notch with a wider range of more powerful Intel processors. The product line will come in the same 12.5” VGP-BPS8 and 14” variants; however, both are customizable with Intel Sandy Bridge Core i3/i5/i7 processors. The rest of the specs include up to 500GB of storage, Intel GMA HD (e.g. 3000) graphics, up to 6GB of RAM, the same 1366x768 pixel resolution as the Series 2, VGP-BPS9A/B and a 6 cell battery with up to 7 hours of life.

Last but not least is the highest end line introduced today, the Series 6. The more powerful model does without the 12.5” version and sticks to 14” VGP-BPS9/B and 15.6” models. Both editions will be customizable with Core i3 to i7 processors, up to 8GB of RAM, optional 128GB/256GB SSD, an optional 1600x900 pixel resolution display (regular is 1366x768 pixel) and also can include an option for an NVIDIA NVS 4200M. All three of the Series will come with Windows 7 as the operating system.

While the new systems might not be as attractive as the ultra-thin Series 9, they should make up for that in price VGP-BPS9/S and durability. The Series 2 and Series 4 are scheduled to be available in April and the Series 6 should come out in May. Unfortunately, Samsung hasn’t released any word about pricing for the laptops.

14” and 18” systems set to join Dell’s premium gaming laptop line

2011年03月23日(水)

Dell seems to be keeping very busy with updating their Alienware line of gaming laptops. After announcing the inclusion of Klipsch speakers in the M17x notebooks, Dell seems set to introduce two new members of the family. According to a set of pictures released by the dell.benyhoui forums, an 18 inch VGP-BPS9/S and a 14 inch laptop have been spotted and will be coming right around the corner.

The Alienware M18x has been rumored for a bit, VGP-BPS9/B and a previous listing on the Dell Support website seemed to confirm the laptop. The M18x is rumored to include an 18.4” display with a Full HD resolution of 1920x1080 pixels, Intel’s Sandy Bridge processors and various GPU configurations. The massive laptop will supposedly be configurable with either a pair of AMD Radeon HD 6870M in CrossfireX or an SLI configuration of two NVIDIA GTX 460Ms or two GeForce GTX 485Ms.

As for the M14x, it should come with a 14” display (no word on resolution), Sandy Bridge processors, VGP-BPS9 and either an NVIDIA GeForce 555M, an AMD Radeon HD 6370M, or an AMD Radeon 6770M. Both laptops will probably include the same design features such as the colored lighting around the keyboard and the black matte surfaces. The M14x should also be available in Black and Red colors.

Dell’s Alienware gaming laptops are some of the top gaming notebooks available on the market, VGP-BPS9A/B and they should offer more options in the future with the M14x and the M18x. The SLI/Crossfire configurations in the M18x should make it an extremely capable machine, although it will probably also warrant a very high price tag. Unfortunately, no official word has come from Dell yet, but an announcement should be available in the near future.

Toshiba launches 17” Satellite C670 laptops

While most 17” laptops are known for their above average performance VGP-BPS13a/b and price, Toshiba is changing things up with their newest laptops. The C670 notebooks are aimed at budget consumers and will come with Intel or AMD processors depending on the customer’s preference.

With regards to the AMD powered version, it will be known as the C670D and will come with an AMD Dual-Core E-350 processor. The laptop will also come equipped with an integrated AMD graphics card courtesy of the Radeon HD 6310. Other features in the laptop include a 17.3” display with a TruBrite 1600x900 pixel resolution display, a full keyboard with a 10 key number pad, up to a 750GB HDD, VGP-BPS13 and up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM.

As far as the Intel version goes, it does without the D suffix VGP-BPS13b/b and will be known simply as the Satellite C670. Although the listing on the Toshiba website indicates the C670 will only be available with a Core i3 processor, the promotional video points to an optional Core i5 processor as well. Although the rest of the specs are pretty much on par with the C670D, the Intel version is further set apart from its AMD counterpart thanks to an NVIDIA GeForce 315M GPU. Also, according to the spec sheet, an Intel Pentium powered C670 could be available VGP-BPS13a/s and would be a Luxe White color instead of the regular Matte Black. All Intel CPUs should be based on the old Arrandale archetecture (first generation Core).

While the inner workings of the C670 series aren’t the usual hardware found in a 17” machine, it’s hard to argue with the estimated 550 Euro base price. For an entry-level machine with a 17.3” display, the Satellite C670 series could provide a decent bang for the buck. Unfortunately, there is no exact pricing for all the models VGP-BPS13/q and all that is know about the release date is that it could be sometime this April.

Toshiba Tablet pops up on laptopbatterymag.com

2011年03月23日(水)

The latest Motorola tablet has been getting lots of headlines, but not all are exactly praising the device. Recent Xoom sales VGP-BPS9/S and benchmarks, for example, appear to pale against the giant that is Apple’s iPad 2. Perhaps it is for these reasons that recent leaks about the device coming to the Sprint network are currently appearing.

Forum site Sprint Users is claiming that the Motorola Xoom is making its way to a new network, with picture proof of the tablet sporting the Sprint logo. According to Electronista, this information is from the same forum member that leaked the MiFi 4082 last December VGP-BPS9/B and may hold credibility for this latest rumor.

The 10.1-inch Xoom is currently available through Verizon Wireless with a Wi-Fi only model coming later this month. Whether VGP-BPS9A/B or not the Xoom tablet for Sprint would be WiMAX-compatible is unknown, but certainly users shouldn’t have to go through the whole returning process in order to outfit their newly purchased tablets with 4G support.

If rumors are true, chances are we should be hearing official announcements directly from Sprint at the CTIA trade show this month beginning March 21st. Hopefully, we can expect more information VGP-BPS9 and surprises from phone carriers during the event.

Toshiba Tablet pops up on laptopbatterymag.com

It’s not often that a tablet is officially announced toshiba pa3356u-1brs battery and detailed for so long without receiving a name, yet Toshiba seems to be doing exactly that with their new Android tablet. The Honeycomb tablet was already previewed at the MWC and CES conferences earlier this year along with an official teaser site; however, mums the word on any specific name for the tablet. And although some might have expected a name to come along with any official product listings, the tablet’s Amazon.com page has gone live without any name in sight.

The Amazon listing for a “10.1” Toshiba Android Tablet” appeared earlier today, toshiba pa3356u-1bas battery and sadly doesn’t seem to offer any new details about the device. It merely confirms the Tegra 2 processor, the 10.1” display with a 1280x800 pixel resolution and the 5.0 MP rear-facing camera. Other specs listed on the page include HDMI out, USB, mini-USB, an SD card reader, Bluetooth, and a user-replaceable battery.

While the Amazon listing doesn’t add much, it does show some interesting images of the Easy-Grip interchangeable hp envy 17 battery back covers. According to the description the covers will be available in various colors and should help make the tablet stand out. The images provided on the Amazon listing do show the tablet as being quite thick; however, there is a certain appeal to the rubberized back in our opinion.

Earlier this month, a Toshiba Australia executive challenged the iPad 2 by stating: “We believe that our device is superior to the Apple device, it may be a little heavier (773g) but it does have a lot of features that the iPad 2 does not have”. The executive also went on to say that the Tablet Lenovo ideapad u550 battery will ship sometime in May for a price similar to the iPad 2 but without any network commitments.

While the only info we have about the Toshiba tablet’s name is the possibility of it going by the moniker of Antares, it still looks to be heavyweight contender in the tablet arena. Toshiba hasn’t kept from taking shots at the opposition, hp presario cq72 battery and we can only hope that the tablet will be able to back up their claims when it finally ships.

Autopsy on the Panasonic Toughbook S9

2011年03月21日(月)

Keyboard and Touchpad

In order to make room for the laptop's unique flip-up DVD burner, the ToughBook S9's keyboard occupies less than half the length of its deck. As a result, the keys are small, short,Sony VGP-BPS13 Battery and quite close together. You'll have to adjust to this layout. Even so, the keys have substantial travel and provide a pleasing soft click. There's also no flex at all.

The S9's circular touchpad (1.8 inches in diameter) is definitely a departure from the rectangular ones we typically see, but it functions as advertised. While it doesn't support fancy multitouch gestures like many other laptops, it will allow smooth circular scrolling within documents Sony VGP-BPS13A/B Battery and web pages. Cursor movement was also responsive. The notebook's two discrete mouse buttons are small but easy to press.

Durability

What you're really paying $2,649 for is what Panasonic calls business-rugged construction, meaning the Toughbook S9 is designed to withstand the typical abuse laptops can suffer in work environments or on the road. Basically, the S9 can take one or two nasty drops during its life span, specifically from a height of 2.5 feet (while powered)(Sony VGP-BPS13A/S Battery,Sony VGP-BPS9 Battery,Sony VGP-BPS9A/B Battery,Sony VGP-BPS9/B Battery,Sony VGP-BPS9/S Battery ) onto its base. The notebook should also be able to handle drops from 1 foot (while turned off) onto hard surfaces, hitting each of the notebook's corners.

Aside from the magnesium construction, the S9's LCD Sony VGP-BPS13B/B Battery and hard drive are built to absorb shocks using rubber pads and flexible connectors. In addition, the notebook can take 220 pounds of direct pressure on its lid. The keyboard is also spill-resistant. Lenovo ThinkPad laptops such as the X220 have features such as shock-mounted hard drives, magnesium-reinforced chassis, and spill-resistant keyboards, but they don't offer similar guarantees against drops.

To test the S9's toughness, we dropped the notebook once from a height of 2.5 feet (while powered) onto its base. We then placed a plank Sony VGP-BPS13S of plywood on the floor, powered down the laptop, and let the CF-S9 fall from a distance of 1 foot, impacting the plank from various angles. After that, we upped the ante by having a 210-pound person stand on the S9's lid with the plywood plank sitting in between, evenly distributing the weight. According to Panasonic, these pressure tests simulate everyday occurrences such as a laptop being crushed in overhead bins or sat on accidentally. Lastly, we poured 6 ounces of water on the notebook's keyboard, let it sit for a few minutes, then drained the water as best we could. Impressively, the ToughBook S9 ran this gauntlet with no discernible damage Sony VGP-BPS13/S or impaired operation.

Besides durability, Panasonic offers a few security features on the ToughBook S9. These include a TPM security chip to help protect passwords from software threats Sony VGP-BPS13B/S and an optional fingerprint reader for biometeric authentication. There's also a Computrace Agent in the system BIOS to help locate the laptop if it's misplaced or stolen.

Design

Weighing just 3 pounds, the ToughBook S9 is easy to take anywhere. The 12.1-inch laptop certainly has a very compact footprint (12.8 x 9.9 inches), but at almost two inches thick at its widest point, it's a bit chunky. The S9 has a sturdy magnesium alloy chassis, Sony VGP-BPS13AS and we like the black-and-sliver lid. The laptop's interior is a solid metallic silver color, complete with Panasonic's trademark circular touchpad and a flip-open DVD burner hidden in the laptop's right wrist rest.

Heat

For the most part, the ToughBook S9 stayed fairly cool. After playing a Hulu video for 15 minutes, we recorded a temperature Sony VGP-BPS22A Battery of 89 degrees Fahrenheit at the center of the keyboard. The touchpad returned a reading of 93 degrees, while the notebook's underside was 92 degrees. However, the left wrist rest crossed the threshold of what we consider uncomfortable (95 degrees), measuring 103 degrees.

New Technology:3D Space Battles on Your Xoom

2011年03月21日(月)

Subscription Based Online Gaming

The very first thing to note is that Vendetta Online is a subscription based game, as most MMORPGs are. Thus, after you purchase the game for $.99 from the Android Market Sony VGP-BPS9/S Akku and install it, you will be prompted to create an account. They do give you a trial period (which was utilized for the purpose of this hands-on), but the cost to play is in line with most other online games at $7-$10 a month. The good thing here however, is that the Android version of the game (it also runs on Linux, Windows, Sony VGP-BPS9/B Akku and Mac OS X with all platform users playing in the same Universe), provides an offline mode where you can do extra training missions and mini-games.

The account setup process doesn’t take too long, but in a rather strange move, Vendetta provides its own grossly inferior keyboard for text input rather than letting you use the Android keyboard. We are not sure why, but Sony VGP-BPS9A/B Akku hopefully this gets resolved in the near future.

Graphics & Gameplay

Upon flying out of your Nation’s training space station for the first time, you immediately realize how massive the game is. You see asteroids Sony VGP-BPS9 Akku and a beautiful Saturn-like planet in the distance, drone ships flying about, and larger space enterprise-like vessels patrolling the area. The textures of the environments, ships, and planets are really detailed. You can tell Vendetta is making good use of the Xoom’s Tegra 2 processing power.

When it comes to flying your ship, things are not as rosy. Some serious playing time will be needed to get used to the controls. This is a first person perspective space shooter, so your entire screen is filled with your HUD or Heads Up Display. To control your ship, you have a number of controls. On the right side of the screen there is a circle which allows you to look 360 degrees in any direction, Sony VGP-BPS9A/S Akku and on the left are up, down, left, Sony VGP-BPS13a/b Akku and right arrow keys, with up moving you forward and down to stop. The the left and right arrow keys allow you to move the ship sideways. There are also shoot and turbo buttons on the left hand side of the screen as well. There are also buttons for mission, stop, target, and activate. Let’s just say you can tell this was a game ported from a PC.

Story, Nations,Sony VGP-BPS13 Akku and Characters

Once logged in, you will be prompted to choose a Nation and create a character. There are 3 Nations: Itani Nation, Serco Dominion, and the UIT. Attempting to go over the Vendetta Online backstory can be its own post, but in essence, you’re in a beyond-Earth future, Sony VGP-BPS13a/q Akku and through space exploration and advanced technologies, the 3 clans emerged from a once connected human race and now battle each other for supremacy.

As is customary in these kinds of games, you start out with basically nothing Sony VGP-BPS13/b Akku and must work your way up. This includes purchasing ships and equipment, as well as selling goods to earn money to buy new equipment, ships, and weapons. It also means you have to go through a number of training missions to become acclimated with the game and endure hours of gameplay to even begin to develop your character.

Early Thoughts

Our time with the game has been brief in relation to how long you can actually play the game (basically forever), but from this short hands-on, there are some things to get excited about which included the graphics, the game’s massive scale, extra Android features, multi-platform nature, Sony VGP-BPS13b/b Akku and the initial under a buck purchase price. With that being said, many things, like the keyboard and flying controls, still need to be addressed to put it more on par with its desktop and laptop brethren

In the end, if you like space battles and MMORPG’s, at $.99, this is a great deal. And if you like what you see, then you can always subscribe to play the full game Sony VGP-BPS13b/q Akku and band together with your fellow Nation members to explore the full Vendetta Universe

Various functions on Facebook

2011年03月21日(月)

Chat

New to the BlackBerry app is the ability to connect with your friends via chat Lenovo thinkpad t400 battery and view various conversations in a list-style layout. Even if you’re not in the Facebook app, a tiny red asterisk will appear next to the Facebook icon on your handset’s home screen to alert you when you have a new message. Clicking on a plus sign next to a friend’s name in the chat home screen gives you the option of poking them, sending them a message, writing on their wall, and more.

Compared to the Facebook app for iOS, which organizes your friends on chat alphabetically, we found the BlackBerry app’s chat screen easier to read at a glance. Chat on the BlackBerry app also offers more functionality, including the ability to click through to a friend’s profile or write on their wall; the iOS version only allows for text message-style chatting Lenovo/IBM Thinkpad T410 Battery and includes no links to other parts of Facebook.

Verdict

Facebook for BlackBerry 2.0 offers some handy features, such as the notification bar Lenovo thinkpad t500 battery and grid for at-a-glance updates on your latest social-networking activities. We also like that the chat feature includes options to visit your friends’ page or send them a message; it’s more dynamic than what Facebook on the iPhone has to offer. Overall, RIM’s app offers more functionality, but it still can’t beat Apple when it comes to ease of use.

News Feed

The news feed on the BlackBerry’s Facebook includes the familiar stream of updates from your friends, but it also Lenovo thinkpad t60 battery adds the ability to like or comment on a status update by clicking the plus button to the right. The iOS app features a similar plus sign icon, which gives you the option to like or comment on a friend’s status.

Notifications Bar

One of the most useful additions to BlackBerry’s Facebook app is a notifications bar that displays all your recent activity across the social-networking site. Displayed activities include notifications, messages, friend requests, Lenovo thinkpad t61 battery and recent chats.

We found this feature particularly handy; having all this (Lenovo thinkpad r60 battery,IBM thinkpad r60e battery,Lenovo thinkpad x60 battery,IBM thinkpad X60S battery)information in one place made it easy to keep track of our activities on the site. iOS doesn’t offer similar functionality; Facebook updates are separate for each of the icons (friend requests, messages, etc.) on the app’s homescreen.

Profile UI

The updated BlackBerry app also boasts a new, tabbed profile UI, with separate tabs for your wall, info, Lenovo thinkpad t60p battery and photos. The layout is very similar to what’s available with iOS, with the main difference being the tabs’ placement on the page.

RIM also touts the fact that theirs is the only Facebook app which includes a link to another profile under the Relationship Status category. (In practice, this meant that we could click through to our friends’ significant others’ profiles if they were listed as in a relationship.)

Splashtop Remote and LogMeIn Ignition

2011年03月18日(金)

Setup VGP-BPS13A/B and Features

Splashtop turns a mobile device--be it a smart phone or an iPad--into a remote viewer. First, download VGP-BPS13 and install a free client for your Mac or Windows computer. The installation process took only 5 minutes, and there is nothing to configure. Next, install the Splashtop Remote app on your mobile device. With your Android or iOS device and PC on the same Wi-Fi network, open the mobile app and connect to your computer just by tapping its name.

Splashtop provides a few unique gestures for controlling your remote desktop. Like GoToMyPC for iPad VGP-BPS13B/B and LogMeIn Ignition, you can tap once to left-click, press two fingers to scroll in a browser window, and perform other simple commands. However, you can also hold down three fingers to choose video resolution or switch displays if your PC has multiple monitors. The gestures in Splashtop worked well for most controls except the browser window scroll. (Sometimes, the app would perform a right click instead.) Unfortunately, the "twist" gesture that used to work on the iPad is now disabled, likely because it never really worked that well.

Don't take the "remote" part of Splashtop Remote's name too literally. To access our computer outside a local network, we had to access our router's settings, configure an IP address to use a static name, VGP-BPS9 and then set up port forwarding--we used a small app from DynDNS.com to accomplish this. Splashtop's website warns that this is not for the feint of heart. The company has not announced any plans to make this process easier.

Value

One advantage Splashtop Remote has over its competitors is price: It costs just $5 for the iPad or Android app and $1.99 for the iPhone VGP-BPS9A/B and iPod touch. LogMeIn Ignition costs $30, and while the iPad app for GoToMyPC is free, you still have to pay $10 per computer per month for the client.
Verdict

For just $5, Splashtop Remote is an inexpensive VGP-BPS9/S and easy program to use, and it provides a simple interface for controlling your computer across a local network. However, those looking for a way to access their home PC on the road would be better served with GoToMyPC for iPad or LogMeIn Ignition, which are easier to set up and provide better performance from afar.

Setup

We tested LogMeIn Ignition on the iPad and the Samsung Epic 4G; a version of the app for Android 3.0 "Honeycomb" tablets such as the Motorola Xoom is expected soon. LogMeIn is a bit more complex than GoToMyPC; you have to go through a few more setup screens. When you log in using the Ignition app, you first sign into your account, then enter the username VGP-BPS9/B and password for the remote computer. This adds an extra step for security, but it's not that intuitive and it adds extra time. The entire process took about two minutes.

Pricing

On top of the $30 app, if you want to stream music from your host computer, you'll need to sign up for LogMeIn Pro2, which costs $70 per computer per year. However, you can also install LogMeIn Free VGP-BPS13A/Q and use the apps only for remote viewing, not audio. Once you do, you can continue to use the Ignition app without paying any monthly fees. By comparison, GoToMyPC requires that you use a paid version of the software on your host computer for $10 per month.
Verdict

LogMeIn Ignition has a lot going for it. It works with both iOS and Android devices, gestures were smooth, VGP-BPS13/B and it's less expensive over the long haul. However, we slightly prefer GoToMyPC client for iPad only because the interface is better and more stable and it takes fewer steps to connect. That's the important feature when you're in a pinch.

Performance

LogMeIn Ignition works a shade slower than GoToMyPC for iPad. On the iPad, there was a slight delay in connecting VGP-BPS13B/Q and in the screen refresh time, both when using the same 3G hotspot network and over Wi-Fi. Yet, we typed a Word document
without any trouble. Interestingly, Ignition was blazing fast on the Android-powered Epic 4G, .

Gesturing on the iPad VGP-BPS13A/S and Android versions both worked well, even for the two-finger scrolling on a website and for selecting text by pressing and dragging. By comparison, gestures on GoToMyPC's iPad app were less reliable.

On Android, LogMeIn Ignition offers some interesting extra perks. Like Splashtop Remote, the app lets you stream audio VGP-BPS13/Q and video. Unfortunately, this did not work too well on a Samsung Epic 4G; the audio played for a while, then stuttered and stopped. LogMeIn told us they are working on the issue. We did play a YouTube video of a Charlie Sheen interview and the video looked reasonably smooth (for a smart phone), but the audio sounded too digital and even stuttered. Still, that's better than GoToMyPC's app, which wouldn't play audio at all.

Note that when you connect with an Android phone, the resolution changes on your remote computer to only 800 x 600. In a few cases, the host screen took on a mirroring effect where the top of the screen looked like a double image. When we logged out VGP-BPS13AS and back in, the problem went away.
